New Heartland circuit set for 16 races
The first-year Mel Hamblelton Racing POWRi Heartland Late Model Tour last week released a 16-race schedule with events at seven tracks in its home state of Missouri along with Kansas and Texas.
Legit Speedway Park in West Plains, Mo., hosts a series-high four races, including the May 15-16 tour debut weekend, while Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., and Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth are set to host three races apiece on the circuit launched by the Heartland Promotions team of Trenton Berry, Erick Chesterman and Austin Krueger.
Other Missouri tracks include Moberly Motorsports Park and Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, which is set to host its first Super Late Model event in 14 seasons. Kansas races are split between Dodge City Raceway Park and Hutchinson’s Salt City Speedway (a weekend co-sanctioned with the Nutrien Ag Solutions Revival Super Dirt Series).
Lake Ozark’s June 12-13 weekend is co-sanctioned by the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series.
The series, which doesn’t have any September races scheduled, lists a July 31 open date.
Purses weren’t officially announced, but most will pay $3,000- or $5,000-to-win, Berry said. The tour will follow standard Super Late Model rules patterned off the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
