Buyer sought for Duck River oval
The owner of Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn., a popular quarter-mile oval that has hosted hundreds of Dirt Late Model specials since its 1973 founding, is looking for a buyer.
Russell Boothe on Monday said he’s putting the Sam Pugh-built track and its 40-acre property up for sale — “exploring the opportunity to find the right” buyer — but plans to continue operating the Middle Tennessee track for the time being.
“After nearly five years of pouring my heart, time, energy, and resources into Duck River Raceway Park, I believe it’s time to pass the torch to someone who shares the same passion for racing and the future of this facility,” Boothe wrote on the track’s Facebook page.
Boothe stressed the track is fully operational and includes recent facility upgrades and improvements. The sale would include equipment to maintain operations.
“What makes this opportunity special is that you’re not buying a racetrack that needs saving — you’re buying one that is already succeeding,” he wrote. “Duck River Raceway has become more than a business to me. It’s been a second home. The relationships built, memories made, and races we’ve hosted will always hold a special place in my heart. My hope is to find someone who will continue building on what we’ve created and carry Duck River Raceway forward for many years to come.”
Boothe will accept serious inquiries via private Facebook message.
This year’s schedule includes events with the Schaeffer's Spring Nationals, Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Ultimate Southeast Series among other special events. The track’s weekly divisions include Limited Late Models and 602 Crate Late Models.
