A three-race Late Model miniseries is set for three Michigan tracks next month to popularize a campaign to protect tow-truck drivers and other highway workers.

The Move Over Michigan Dirt Late Model Series, with presenting sponsorship from Kapnick Insurance and MacAllister Machinery Company, plans three races in August and a full schedule in 2027. A pair of $2,500-to-win events are set for Aug. 14-15 at Rothbury's Winston Speedway and Lake City’s Merritt Speedway with a $5,000-to-win race Aug. 21 at Lake Odessa’s I-96 Speedway.

"Roadside workers, from tow-truck drivers to construction workers, to police officers, and so many others are tragically killed in the line of duty every day, because people simply don't respect the Move Over-Slow Down Law,” said race team owner Jeff Finley, the series founder. "Towing is a way of life for us, and we want to give something back, and through motorsports is the only way I know how. I also want to see some of the best drivers get off the couch and come have some fun.”

The law honors the memory of Keagen Spencer, a 25-year-old tow-truck operator struck and killed near Caledonia in November 2023.

The series would be the first Michigan-focused tour since the Allstar Performance Challenge Series which dissolved last year after launching in 2022. Before that was the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (2015-19) and the Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup (2012-13).

The new tour will run under DIRTcar rules. Former World of Outlaws Late Model Series announcer Matt Prieur will serve as series announcer and handle administrative and publicity duties.
