What won the race: Third-starting Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., raced to a $2,500 Crate Racin’ USA victory in the second round of the tour's Fourth of July weekend tripleheader Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. He took the checkers ahead of T.J. Brittain and Jake Knowles.
Key notes: The Crate Late Models of Crate Racin’ USA touring series visited Talladega for the second leg of the tour’s Fourth of July weekend tripleheader. The race was originally planned as the third event of a four-race weekend for the series, but Thursday’s race at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway was rained out. That made Friday’s race at Moulton (Ala.) Speedway the weekend opener. Christian Hanger claimed the $2,000-to-win event. … Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway hosts the weekend finale on Sunday.
