Ross Bailes picked up the $4,000 Carolina Clash victory.
What won the race: Taking advantage when race-long leader Trent Ivey got tangled with a slower car after taking the white flag, second-starting Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., won Saturday's Clyde Dedmon Memorial feature at Harris Speedway, collecting $4,000. The victory was the 20th of Bailes's career with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series, ranking him fourth on the tour's all-time win list.
Key notes: Fast qualifier and leader Trent Ivey got a flat tire after tangling with a lapped car in turns one and two on the last lap, leaving him one lap down in 12th. ... Ben Watkins of Rock Hill, S.C., claimed the runner-up spot, 1.062 seconds behind Bailes. ... Eleven starters completed 40 laps. ... Dennis Franklin scratched from the feature lineup. ... A brief rain shower delayed the start of the evening by one hour. ... Saturday's feature, the first Carolina Clash-sanctioned race at Harris since 2007 and a rare Super Late Model event (the track runs a weekly 602 Crate Late Model division), lasted 29 minutes with 11 competitors completing all 40 laps.
On the move: Series point leader Michael Brown of Pageland, S.C., started 13th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Bailes drove a Billy Hicks-owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsored by H&H Auto Sales and Hoosier Tire.
Points chase: After Harris: 1. Michael Brown (861); 2. Jeff Smith (827); 3. Brett Hamm (814); 4. Anthony Sanders (714); 5. Ross Bailes (673).
Current weather: Overcast, 72°F
