What won the race: Seizing command when race-long leader Nick Hoffman slapped the turn-two wall on lap 28, third-starting Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., led the remainder of the distance to capture Friday's 50-lap Billy Todd Classic at Ponderosa Speedway. Sheppard's $15,000 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series victory was his second in as many nights after he claimed his first win tour win of the season in Thursday's $10,000 stop at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, Tenn.

Quotable: “This is by far my favorite stretch of the year," Sheppard said. "I always looking forward to (racing in) this area. We’ve been racing around this area a little bit more the past couple of years, just trying to stay familiar with it for the touring races like this. (Racing) up in the Midwest, that’s my favorite place in the world, so definitely looking forward to going up there. Confidence is high going into it.”

Key notes: Sheppard notched his 85th career WoO triumph, further extending his lead on the tour's all-time win list. ... The second-starting Hoffman, of Mooresville, N.C., faded to finish sixth after pacing the opening 27 laps. ... Fifth-starting Bobby Pierce grabbed second on the final lap, taking the checkers 1.404 seconds behind Sheppard. ... Tenth-starting Zack Dohm pursued Sheppard from lap 35 until giving way to Pierce at the finish, leaving him to settle for third. ... Kyle Bronson ran as high as third before placing fourth. ... Dale McDowell improved seven positions and rounded out the top five. ... Cade Dillard rebounded to finish 10th after slowing from third with a flat right-rear tire to draw the race's first caution on lap 10. ... Ryan Gustin trailed Hoffman in the early laps before hitting the turn-two wall on a lap-21 restart and pitting under the sixth yellow on lap 35. He recovered to finish 11th. ... Max McLaughlin was battling Pierce for fifth on lap 39 when he slapped the turn-three wall, tearing a majority of his car's right-side body and decking out. He was credited with 21st after retiring a lap later. Debris from his car brought out the race's seventh and final stoppage. ... Pole-starting Cody Overton slowed with an apparent engine failure on the race's second lap. ... Friday's 50-lapper lasted 32 minutes, with 18 competitors completing the distance.
