What won the race: Series points leader Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, led all 40 laps from outside the front row for a $4,000 victory in the Malvern Bank East Series debut at Winneshiek Raceway. Simpson ran largely unchallenged the first 30 laps, taking the checkers 0.536 of a second ahead of Dylan Thornton.

Quotable: "Last night I was pretty disappointed with our fourth-place finish. We just missed it all night long and we just weren't any good," Simpson said. "Now tonight we didn't (qualify) as well, but once we found it there in that heat race, everything just kind of fell together."

Nick Panitzke couldn't claim a $1,600 bonus while failing to win from the sixth starting spot. ... The feature lasted 16 minutes, with 18 starters completing 40 laps.
