Mike Palasini Jr. discusses his ninth career series victory.
What won the race: Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, Miss., controlled all 40 laps from the pole in winning Saturday's $3,000 Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series main event at Jackson Motor Speedway. Palasini beat Neil Baggett by 2.424 seconds for his ninth career MSCCS victory and second this season.
Key notes: Palasini won his first 2025 MSCCS event at Jackson on March 22. ... On Saturday, Neil Baggett trailed Palasini all 40 laps, only applying pressure on the race's opening start and lap-17 restart. ... The lap-17 caution appeared after Tyler Hudson slowed from 12th. ... Mark Dodson was the race's first retiree when he pulled off on the ninth lap. ... Brandon Carpenter (third) and Brian Rickman (fourth) joined Baggett in holding their top-five positions the entire distance, while reigning MSCCS champ Chad Thrash grabbed fifth from Jeremy Broadus on the second lap; Broadus slipped to seventh. ... Former World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series regular Bub McCool started 10th and finished eighth aboard a Tanner Kellick-owned No. 3k entry. It was his first Late Model start in nearly six years after a runner-up finish on Aug. 31, 2019, in Comp Cams Series action at Jackson. McCool was the final starter to complete 40 laps. ... The feature lasted 15 minutes, with 10 drivers running at the checkers. ... Kellick scratched after hot laps. ... Brett White won the 602 Crate feature.
