Kasey Hall gets rolling at Fort Payne, where he pocketed $2,500.
What won the race: Kasey Hall of Rainesville, Ala., was elevated to a United Crate Racing Alliance victory at Fort Payne Motor Speedway after apparent winner Jason Welshan's car failed postrace inspection. Welshan, of Maryville, Tenn., started outside the front row and overtook points leader and polesitter Jake Teague on a lap-11 restart. Welshan took command just before Teague slowed with a flat tire on the 13th lap while Hall ran second the rest of the way.
Key notes: Hall won the eighth race on the UCRA tour. ... A lap-36 caution appeared when the winner tangled with the slower car of Joe Denby; Hall was restored to the second spot. ... Kenny Kizzar brought out a lap-20 yellow with suspension problems. ... Points leader and early race leader Jake Teague broke while running second on lap 13. ... Welshan's team reported his disqualification came because the wheelbase was three-eighths of an inch out of tolerance.
On the move: Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, Tenn., started 10th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Hall's GRT Race Car is sponsored by Oliver Race Engines and Snap-On Tools.
Points chase: Hall closed the gap on Jake Teague in the standings.
