What won the race: Ron Parker of Belwood, N.C., earned $3,000 Saturday with a Fastrak touring victory for Crate Late Models at Lavonia Speedway's Late Model Mania. Parker led all 50 laps in his first start of the season. Parker fought off late-race challenges from runner-up Zack Mitchell.
Quotable: “They kept getting low and throwing the loose stuff in the groove and that made it tough in the end and I just have to thank Zack for driving me clean," Parker said. "My tires were gone and doing is best to get by, but this time it worked out for us.”
Key notes: Parker's previous Fastrak Racing Series touring victory came June 6 at Toccoa (Ga.) Raceway. ... Zack Mitchell, Dale Timms, Frankie Beard and Colby Cannon rounded out the top five. ... The Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series was also part of Late Model Mania; David McCoy won that feature. He finished 11th in the Fastrak main. ... Adam Smith, Mitchell Godfrey and Jason Bates didn't start the Fastrak feature.
Winner's sponsors: Parker's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Herbert Murray, Velocita, JRi Shocks, Schaeffer Oil, FK Rod Ends, Schoenfeld Headers and DirtWrap.
Points chase: Parker is Fastrak's reigning Southeast Tour champ.
