Kyle Bronson earned $5,000 for his victory at Whynot.
What won the race: Winning a duel of front-row starting Floridians in Mississippi, Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., topped Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., on Saturday at Whynot Motorsports Park for a $5,000 Southern Crate Late Nationals victory. Bronson overtook Whitener on lap 53 and led the rest of the 75-lapper.
Key notes: Bronson notched his sixth Late Model victory of 2016. ... The event was the biggest Crate Late Model event in the history of the Whynot oval. ... Bronson and Mike Boland won Friday's $1,000-to-win twin features. ... Robbie Starnes won Saturday's non-qualifiers' race. ... Among other non-qualifiers: Larry Murphy, Wiley Williams, Jimmy Thomas, Hunter Carroll, Mike Boland and Jim McDuffie. ... The race was under NeSmith rules but isn't a touring race.
On the move: Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg, Miss., started 18th and finished third; he broke into the top five on lap 33.
