What won the race: Overcoming an early four-car race for the lead, Andy Boozel of Clymer, N.Y., led flag-to-flag, besting local favorite Andy Michael for his first RUSH Dirt Late Model Series victory of the season at Freedom Motorsports Park.
Quotable: "I thought we'd have a bunch of cautions, but it worked out good and the car was good," Boozel said. "Traffic was tough; it was hard to pick through those guys. Someone got up next to me once and I figured I better push it a little harder. I was just trying to hit the corners right and not push. It was still kind of choppy and if you didn't get in right, it'll push on you. It's fun to drive these cars, they run hard, and I like it."
Key notes: Boozel made his first-ever visit to Freedom Motorsports Park. ... In six events, the RUSH tour has had five different winners. ... The 25-lap feature ran caution-free. ... With the addition of bonuses, the winner's purse was boosted to $1,699. ... The RUSH tour made its third-ever appearance at the New York oval. ... RUSH competitors will travel to Tri-City Raceway Park on June 19 for a $2,000-to-win event.
On the move: Damien Bidwell of Eldred, Pa., improved from the 24th starting position to run 13th.
Winner's sponsors: Boozel's No. 12B is sponsored by Ripley Machine & Tool, Crotty Chevrolet, Neil's Propane, Lictus Keystone, Mike Roush Contracting, VanEvery Maple, Neil Transport, French Creek Tavern, Keystone, Phantom Signs and Z&M Ag & Turf.
