Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., earned $8,000 for his victory.
What won the race: Making a patient run from his seventh starting spot, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., raced to his fourth career Corn Belt Clash victory, repeating in the George Scheffler Memorial at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway. Mars took the checkers ahead of Chris Simpson and Mitch McGrath in a nonstop feature.
Quotable: "George was a helluva guy, and we had good times when we got together. So I've gotta thank the whole family for putting this on in memory of George," Mars said. "It's just a cool feeling to be able to do this."
Key notes: Mars was the race's third leader following Dave Eckrich and Speedway for his previous Corn Belt Clash victory. ... Polesitter Dave Eckrich of Oxford, Iowa, slipped back to a sixth-place finish in the non. ... Outside front-row starter Mike Mullen was an early retiree. ... Among drivers failing to make the Oshkosh feature lineup: Billy Drake, Billy Rezutek, Rick Scheffler, Turk Letizia, Jim Schmidt, Mike Fryer, Jim Zdroik, Jeff Curtin and Justin Hirt. ... The series stays in Wisconsin Saturday for a program at Plymouth Dirt Track that wraps up the season.
On the move: Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, started 11th and finished fourth.
