J.C. Wyman heads for his first career MLRA victory.
What won the race: Leading all the way, outside front-row starter J.C. Wyman of Griswold, Iowa, broke through with his first career Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association victory, holding off late challenges from 10th-starting Chase Junghans of Manhattan, Kan., for a $3,000 payday.
Quotable: "I'm still kind of speechless. The way the track was, it was definitely a workout ... " Wyman said. "The car was great. I could stick through the bottom and get a good run on 'em and slide up in front of 'em and hit the cushion and go."
Key notes: Wyman entered the caution-free 40-lapper seventh in MLRA points. ... Fourth-place finisher Tony Jackson Jr. piloted a Rocket Chassis after driving a GRT in recent weeks. ... MLRA's weekend action continues Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
On the move: Former World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series regular Chase Junghans of Manhattan, Kan., started 10th and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: The Wyman Motorsports Black Diamond Chassis is sponsored by CleanCar Center, J.D. Wyman Service, Wyman's CarQuest, JMR, Victor and KWE.
Points chase: Entering Labor Day weekend, Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., had a 92-point edge over Terry Phillips.
