What won the race: Continuing his assault on Mississippi, Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas, won his second straight MSCCS event, earning $2,000 in Whynot Motorsports Park's Mississippi State Championship. Erb, who started the weekend in Ohio but left after prelims for the DTWC, also picked up $10,000 two weeks earlier in MSCC's Gumbo Nationals at Greenville Speedway.
Quotable: “It was a pretty wild weekend, and I never would’ve thought Saturday night would find us in Mississippi — much less in victory lane there,” Erb said. “Our car was really good, and hopefully we can come back here next week and leave with $15,000.”
Key notes: The non-points event was makeup of a Sept. 17 rainout. ... Along with MSCCS entries, the event concluded Sept. 16 preliminaries of the original Mississippi State Championship weekend. ... The race precedes Whynot's big Coors Light Fall Classic, a $15,000-to-win Super Late Model event scheduled for Oct. 20-22.
Winner's sponsors: Erb's XR1 Rocket Chassis is sponsored by First Class Septic, ShowTime Signs, Litton Motorsports, Performance Race Engineering, JD's Body Works, Day Motorsports, Hwy 105 Machine, Team 5 Enterprise and J&J Motorsports.
Points chase: The points chase has been concluded with Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., securing the MSCCS title.
Car count: 24
Next series race: November 5, Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, MS) $5,000
Editor's note: Results and race details are unofficial.
