Jeremy Wonderling picked up his $2,000 check at Stateline Speedway.
What won the race: Jeremy Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., outdueled third-starting Max Blair of Titusville, Pa., to win the inaugural Bill Law Memorial as the Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH Series made its debut at Stateline Speedway. The victory was worth $2,000.
Quotable: "Toward the end of the race my car was quitting coming out of the corner once in a while, and my brake pedal was going further down so I was just trying maintain," Wonderling said. "Then I saw Max and thought 'this is not good! I was trying not to overdrive the car because Max is one of the best people I've ever raced with. To race with him and beat him is one of the best things I can do.”
Key notes: Polesitter John Waters of Whitesville, N.Y., was the first retiree and credited with 24th at the finish. ... Wonderling's win was his second in seven days. He won a RUSH-sanctioned weekly feature at Old Bradford Speedway in Bradford, Pa., on Sunday, May 14. ... This was the season-opener for the RUSH Series after an April 22 rainout at Winchester (Va.) Speedway. ... The race honored the former driver who was one of the first to pilot a Crate Late Model in the region. ... The series returns to action on Monday at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario.
