Cory Hedgecock heads toward his series-leading fourth NeSmith win of the season.
What won the race: Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., set the quick time, started from the pole and led all 40 laps of the J.T. Kerr Memorial at 411 Motor Speedway to take home the $4,000 top prize.
Key notes: Five cautions slowed the race. … The final caution came out on lap 28 for an incident involving Kyle Courtney, Colton Horner and Brandon Williams, setting up a 12-lap sprint to the finish. ... Walker Arthur of Forrest, Va., crashed during qualifying, but bounced back to win his B-main and finish 11th in the feature. ... The race was the second of a weekend doubleheader. ... Jesse Lowe was the victor at I-75 on Friday night. ... The victory was Hedgecock's fourth NeSmith victory in seven events so far this season. ... Marcus Minga of Shannon, Miss., was forced to go to a back-up car after flipping his primary car on the first lap at I-75 on Friday. ... The race was in honor of a former East Tennessee racer and racing equipment dealer who was well-known and well-respected throughout the region. ... Chase King won the 10-car feature for Steel-headed Late Models; pulling double duty, Hedgecock finished third.
