Jared Miley (H1) edged Corey Conley (14) for victory at Muskingum County Speedway.
What won the race: Outside front-row starter Jared Miley of South Park, Pa., repelled late challenges from fourth-starting Corey Conley to capture the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week opener at Muskingum County Speedway. He led every lap to earn $3,000 in the track's first mini-tour race.
Quotable: "I seen (Conley) there on on the outside of me," Miley said of the final laps. "I was a little bit leery of going to the top, because it seemed kind of dirty, and I didn't know where to be because I was out front the whole time. ... I'm just glad everything worked out. I think we had a pretty good car (but) I could've just moved around a little bit more on the high side."
Key notes: Devin Moran was forced to start 24th after changing motors, forcing him to give up his seventh starting spot.. ... Doug Dodd of Cambridge, Ohio, was a surprise entrant after being out of action since 2012; he finished 16th. ... Early cautions were triggered by Paul Stubber and Jeromy Misel. ... Muskingum County opened the five race miniseries, originally scheduled to include eight events before races at Hilltop Speedway (July 20), Midway Speedway (July 23) and Brushcreek Speedway (July 28) were cancelled. ... Skyline Speedway shifted from its original July 26 date to fill Brushcreek's vacant July 28 date.
On the move: Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., started 12th and finished third; Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, started 24th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Miley’s Rocket Chassis has an Andy Durham Racing Engine is sponsored by Jay’s Auto Wrecking, Colussy Chevrolet, Sprague Farm & Brew Works, Maloney Classic Cars, Junior’s Core, Keystone Alliance Insurance Services, Ireland’s Bait Shop, DLB Metals, Brougher’s Machine Shop and Integra Shocks.
