La Salle promoter Tony Izzo Jr. congratulates winner Chad Holladay.
What won the race: After an early scrum between Rob Toland and Matt Ryan, Chad Holladay of East Moline, Ill., took command and held off all challengers to win Saturday’s IMCA-sanctioned One Night Stand at La Salle Speedway. Holding off Ryan at the checkers, Holladay picked up $3,000 for the win.
Key notes: Pounding the cushion late in the race, Cayden Carder made a charge to the front, but settled for third behind Holladay and Ryan. ... IMCA competitors made a rare appearance at La Salle, which is a UMP stronghold. … After the surface slicked off, competitors had multiple grooves to chose from, providing action all over the track. ... Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, won Friday's prelim and last year’s IMCA One Night Stand at the quarter-mile oval.
Winner's sponsors: Holladay’s MasterSbilt Race Car by Gheer'd Up Race Cars is sponsored by Holladay Trucking, Hoekstra Masonry, Ellsworth Trucking, Gheer'd Up Race Cars, Honts Construction, Keith Stanley DDS, Peterson Fluid Systems and B&B Machine.
Car count: 26
Heat race winners: Doug Nigh, Darrel DeFrance, Ray Guss Jr.
Editor's note: Results and race details are unofficial.
