Jonathan Davenport's first Ultimate Southeast win of the season was worth $4,000.
What won the race: Overtaking Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., with two laps remaining in the 40-lap feature, outside polesitter Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., led the remaining distance for a $4,000 Ultimate Southeast Series victory at 311 Motor Speedway.
Quotable: “I had a good plan there on that one restart to try to pass Ross on the outside ‘cause he got really loose. I don’t know if his tire was going away or he was getting loose in because he really started backing his corner up getting in (turn) one,” said winner Jonathan Davenport. “I give him one shot there then I thought I hurt my tires, so I’m glad the 3V (Kyle Hardy) there gave me plenty of room to race on the outside. I appreciate that. I really wish the 07 (Brian Ledbetter) wasn’t there (in lapped traffic) that way we could’ve raced a little bit better there.”
Key notes: Davenport scored his sixth victory of the 2017 season, his first on the Ultimate Southeast tour. … The series made its first visit to 311 since June 2014. … Prior to Friday’s event, the North Carolina oval had hosted four Ultimate races, with Davenport winning three of the four. … The race was halted on a lap-20 restart when Donald Bradsher rolled his car. He was apparently uninjured. … Virginia driver Logan Roberson was the winner of the Crate feature. ... Ultimate competitors will travel to Dublin Motor Speedway on Saturday for a $7,500-to-win event. ... Two series races remain after this weekend.
