Doug Horton won the second of three nights of Crate action.
What won the race: Polesitter Doug Horton of Wimauma, Fla., regained the lead from runner-up Nevin Gainey on the 23rd lap Friday at East Bay Raceway Park and went on to a Crate Late Model Winternationals victory worth $2,500. Horton, who led the first seven laps before Gainey grabbed the point, took the checkers 2.383 seconds ahead in the 35-lapper.
Quotable: "We had a lot of slicing and dicing and a few of us got together and weren't happy with one another, but hey, it's racing," Horton said in victory lane.
Key notes: Overheating problems forced Clay Harris out of the main event. ... Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, Va., the reigning Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH weekly champ, had to be extricated from his car after a lap-seven accident. He took a trip to St. Joseph's Hospital-South in Riverview and was released a few hours later with neck and back soreness, according to the team. ... Keith Nosbisch, winner of Thursday's $2,000 weekend opener, was third Friday. ... The weekend wraps up with a $3,000-to-win finale Saturday. ... East Bay hosts the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Super Late Models on Feb. 5-10.
