What won the race: Defending tour champion John Cornell of Phoenix, Ariz., led all the way Saturday at Central Arizona Raceway to capture the opener on the Southwest Dirt Racing Association. Cornell picked his ninth career SWDRA victory.
Key notes: Cornell won seven series races last season, including one in Casa Grande. ... Bud Grossenbacher and Steve Stultz crossed the line second and third but were disqualified for failing to report to postrace tech. ...
