What won the race: Pulling away to a comfortable win after inheriting the lead on lap 30, second-starting Trevor Sise of Knoxville, Tenn., outran Chase King to win the Steel-head Nationals at 411 Motor Speedway. Sise, who took the lead when race-long leader Cory Hedgecock was involved in a wreck, earned $3,500.
Key notes: Sise finished 1.828 seconds ahead of Chase King. … Thirteen of the 24 starters finished with nine completing all 40 laps. … Polesitter Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., led through halfway but was caught up in a crash when Justin Owens spun. Hedgecock was disqualified from competition when he exited his car to survey the damage. … Austin Neely was collected in the wreck as well. … Jason Manley drew a caution on lap 33 when he hit the turn-four wall. … Dakotah Knuckles was stripped of his heat win for an infraction involving his right-rear tire. … Josh Henry outran Jesse Lowe to win the Crate Late Model feature. … It was just the second race of the season at 411 after spring weather has wreaked havoc on the track’s schedule. … The Steel-head Nationals event was previously held in the fall but was shifted to late spring.
