What won the race: Recording a clean sweep in Southern Outlaws Late Model Series action at Diamond Park Speedway, Joseph Long of Bryant, Ark., notched his first series victory Saturday. Long, who won his heat and started the front row in the feature, turned back challenges from Randall Griffin en route to a $1,000 victory. Griffin finished second, with Scotty Freeman rounding out the podium.
Key notes: Long is the fifth different winner in eight series races this season. … Eddie Martin and Zach Oliver scratched from the main event. … This was the tour’s only visit to Diamond Park this season and third-ever visit for the fifth-year series. … With weather threatening, track officials hurried the program along and completed it despite some light rain. … The tour has doubleheader planned for Labor Day weekend, with Batesville (Ark.) Motor Speedway hosting on Aug. 31 and Warren Arkansas Speedway hosting Sept. 1 action.
