What won the race: Winning a family affair at Eriez Speedway, Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., outran his cousin Chub Frank and son-in-law Mike Knight for an Ultimate Northeast Series triumph. Briggs passed Frank just before the halfway mark of Sunday’s 30-lapper and drove to a $3,000 payday, his first on the series.
Key notes: Knight, who rallied from 26th, dogged the second-running Frank in the waning laps, but he was unable to get by and settled for third. … Briggs is the seventh winner in nine series races. … Eriez hosted the Ultimate Northeast series for the first time. … Rick Eckert of York, Pa., and Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., have two wins apiece. … The tour’s season finale is Oct. 13 at Hagerstown (Md.)
