What won the race: Polesitter Joseph Brown of nearby Columbus, Ga., picked up his second National Late Model Super Car Series victory of the season, winning the $3,000 Bama Bash at his home track on Saturday. Fellow front-row starter Kenny Collins finished second.
Key notes: Only five cars finished the race. ... Brown also won the NLMSCS season-opener at East Alabama back on Jan. 27, a race originally scheduled for Nov. 11, 2018 but was rescheduled because of rain. … This was this third NLMSCS race of 2019, but the tour’s first points race. … Dalton Cook of Columbus, Ga., who had a pair of runner-up finishes in the first two series races, broke a jack shaft in his car’s rearend during qualifying and scratched for the night. … Mark Whitener started third but didn’t finish after suffering mechanical trouble. … East Alabama hosted its second NLMSCS race of the season as the tour headlined the 22nd annual Bama Bash. … The NLMS 602 Late Model Series, an upstart series for the 602 Crate engined powered machines, made its debut with a $2,000-to-win main event. … The NLMSCS hasn’t released a full schedule for ’19.
