Devin Moran climbs from his car after his $3,000 West Plains victory.
What won the race: In his first weekend racing at West Plains, sixth-starting Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, capped it with a $3,000 victory Saturday as he took the lead from polesitter Jesse Stovall on the 41st of 50 laps and grabbed the checkers. Billy Moyer snared second from Stovall on a lap-47 restart and went on to finish second in the unsanctioned event.
Key notes: Moran, who finished eighth Friday in his West Plains debut (Terry Phillips was the $2,000 winner), recorded his first victory driving for the Dunn Benson Racing team that he joined for the 2019 season. ... Moran was competing at West Plains after the postponement of the weekend's Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. ... The Show-Me originated at West Plains and was traditionally held Memorial Day weekend; the track added Super Late Models Friday and Saturday in part to lure Moran and others traveling in the state. ... Reigning Lucas Oil Series champion Jonathan Davenport made his first West Plains start in a car owned by Richard Haven; he finished 13th. ... Wendell Wallace drove the GRT1 house car for the Greenbrier, Ark.-based GRT Race Cars, which lost its co-founder Joe Garrison earlier this month. ... The Malvern Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series (Limited Late Models) were also on the card.
On the move: Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., started 21st and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Moran's Rocket Chassis has Pro Power Racing Engine with sponsorship from Big River Steel, Dunn-Benson Ford, GetsCo, Tiger Rear Ends and Sunoco.
