What won the race: Overtaking polesitter Justin Reed with just two laps remaining in the distance, Justin Ritchie of New London, Wis., survived a green-white-checkered finish to claim a career-richest $4,100 payday in the DiscountShopTowels.com Dirt King Tour's Diamond 41 at 141 Speedway.
Quotable: "It's a Dirt Kings race, that's the No. 1 thing for us because we're chasing this series," Ritchie said. "I've been out of Late Models for a couple years and to come back now, we've had a couple good runs. Now to pick up a win early in the year, this is what we want to do. We want to be competitive with them guys. That was a stout field there tonight. To come out in front of that, that's just outstanding."
Key notes: Ritchie, fresh off a Saturday victory at Plymouth (Wis.) Dirt Track, scored his first career Dirt Kings victory. … Along with Ritchie, raced leaders included Justin Reed and Brett Swedberg, who held as much as a straightaway lead late-race. … The race was slowed by multiple cautions, including on laps 22 and 35. … Finishing among the top 10, Nick Anvelink and Mitch McGrath were among last year’s Dirt Kings winners at 141 Speedway. … The series made the first of two scheduled stops at the Francis Creek, Wis., oval on the 2019 season, returning on Sept. 26 for a $1,500-to-win event.
On the move: Mitch McGrath of Waukesha, Wis., started 13th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Ritchie's MB Customs Race Car is sponsored by Diener Electric, KSI, Meyer Electric, Meyer Motors, Snazzy Metals, Station 2, Todd R. Thone Carpentry and Waldo Oil.
Points chase: Entering 141 Speedway, Nick Anvelink had 92 points to top the standings over Brett Swedberg (90) and Ron Berna (72).
