Bryce Davis visits victory lane with the ULMS tour.
What won the race: Fifth-starting Bryce Davis of Hornell, N.Y., scored his first career Zimmer’s United Late Model Series victory in Sunday’s Firecracker 40 at Bradford Speedway. He overtook Max Blair for the lead on lap 27 and held off Wyatt Scott and Greg Oakes in the remaining 13 circuits to collect $3,000.
Quotable: "We had some good guys up front," Davis said. "We went with a little harder tire and had to wait for it (to fire). We just had to bide our time and pick and choose our battles wisely, and I think we did a pretty good job of it."
Key notes: Davis got his first-ever Super Late Model victory three weeks earlier at Freedom Motorsports Park in Delevan, N.Y. ... Current ULMS point leader Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., led the first 27 circuits until bobbling after a restart and fading back to finish fifth. … Third-starting Dave Hess Jr. was an early retiree on lap 25. … Sunday’s Firecracker 40 at Bradford Speedway was the opener of the ULMS tour’s Speedweek, a six-race miniseries contested from June 30 to July 7. … Bradford joins Thunder Mountain Speedway (July 3); Genesee Speedway (July 4); Freedom Motorsports Park (July 5); Stateline Speedway (July 6); and Eriez Speedway (July 7) as the tour bounced through Pennsylvania and New York during the holiday week.
On the move: Wyatt Scott of Garland, Pa., started 10th and finished second.
