What won the race: Completing a 15th-to-first rally, Josh Leonard of Gibbons, Neb., won Saturday’s High Plains Late Model Series season opener at Colorado’s I-76 Speedway. Leonard earned $1,000 for his first-ever victory on the fourth-year tour.

Key notes: The win was the second time in as many weeks that Leonard reached victory lane for the first time with a regional tour. He won at Raceway Park in Jefferson, S.D., on May 31 for his first career Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Series win. … Greg Sharpe drew a lap-11 caution. ...
