Doug Drown heads for a $3,000 payday at Wayne County.
What won the race: Winning by more than a three-second margin, Doug Drown of Wooster, Ohio, streaked to victory for the second year in a row in Wayne County Speedway's Don and Hans Gross Memorial on Saturday night. Drown took the checkers 3.895 seconds ahead of Cody Scott to score a $3,000 payday on the Ultimate Mid-Ohio Valley Series.
Key notes: Drown earned his second career victory on the Ultimate Mid-Ohio Valley Series. His previous series win came in the 2019 running of this event. It was also his third time winning Wayne County's Don and Hans Gross Memorial and his third win of the year at the track. ... J.R. Gentry ran among the top five earl in the race, but contact with Jerry Bowersock sent him spinning into an infield tire and ended his night. ... After a delayed start due to coronavirus restrictions, the Ultimate Mid-Ohio Valley Series kicked off its third season with Saturday's event. ... The series currently only has one other event scheduled, a $5,000-to-win race at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W. Va., on Sept. 5.
On the move: Cody Scott of Ontario, Ohio, started ninth and finished second.
