What won the race: Freddie Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., took advantage of his pole starting position and led all 25 laps at Atomic Speedway on Saturday night, collecting the $3,000 Thomas Gas Night victory.
Key notes: Freddie held off Tyler Carpenter, also of Parkersburg, W.Va., winning by 0.461 seconds, earning his third victory in the last eight races held at Atomic Speedway. ... Tyler, who is slated to get married on Sunday, inherited the runner up position around halfway of the 25-lap feature, when R.J. Conley of Portsmouth, Ohio, attempted a daring slider for the lead. ... Conley, who entered with two Atomic feature wins in the last seven races, was relegated to a third place finish on Saturday. … The feature was slowed by seven caution flags and lasted over 24 minutes. ... Only the top 11 finishers completed all 25 laps. ... Saturday’s race was the track’s eighth Super Late Model race of the season paying $2,500 or more to the winner. ... The track recently announced plans for a busy October. ...
