Ross Bailes scored a $7,500 victory at Modoc Raceway.
What won the race: Polesitter Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., led all 50 laps Saturday night at Modoc Raceway, cruising to win the unsanctioned Super Late Model E-Z-Go Summer Kickoff feature and earn $7,500.
Quotable: “I love driving for Billy (Hicks). He’s a racer himself so he knows what we need,” Bailes said. “I think we’re just now getting our bearings straight. We’re really starting to come together now."
Key notes: Cla Knight of North Augusta, S.C., finished 1.618 seconds behind Bailes. ... Third-place finisher Brent Dixon fielded a car he hadn't race in three years. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by a single caution, an opening-lap pileup with Jeff Smith, Pearson Lee Williams, Joshua Bishop and Nick Schlager involved. ... Williams was able to overcome the incident and finished eighth, while Smith was unable to continue and finished 14th. ... Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., suffered a flat tire with two laps remaining, dropping him to 12th in the rundown. ... The top-10 finishers were able to complete all 50 laps of Saturday's feature, a race which lasted slightly less than 20 minutes. ... Modoc hosts the Ultimate Southeast Series on Sept. 25.
On the move: Jordy Nipper of Gray, Ga., started seventh and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Bailes drove a Billy Hicks-owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by H&H Auto Sales, Felony Farms, Bailes Construction, Hoosier Tire South, Fred Caldwell Chevrolet and Bilstein Shocks.
