Jacob Hawkins pumps a fist in victory lane at Tyler County Speedway.
What won the race: Joining his dad and brother on the list of racers who have won the Earl Hill Memorial, second-starting Jacob Hawkins of Fairmont, W.Va., earned a $5,000 Valvoline Iron-Man Northern Series victory in the 33rd annual event on Saturday at Tyler County Speedway. He took the checkers ahead of Ryan Montgomery and 10th-starting Shawn Jett.
Key notes: Hawkins led all the way. ... Tyler Riggs retaliated against Brandon Francis under caution, triggering a fracas that caused a lengthy delay when Francis punched through the driver's side opening of the Riggs machine after climbing from his spun car on the backstretch. Both drivers were disqualified. ... The 33rd annual Earl Hill Memorial was originally planned to be the second leg of the Kentucky-based tour’s doubleheader weekend in West Virginia, but Friday’s race at Ohio Valley Speedway in Washington, W.Va., was rained out. ... Kyle Thomas won Tyler County's Crate Late Model main event.
