What won the race: Fourth-starting Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., made an outside move to overtake Steve Laursen on lap 30 and paced the final 10 circuits, capturing Saturday's Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series feature at Rice Lake Speedway to pocket $2,000.
Quotable: "The track started to grip up a little bit and Stevie (Laursen) was doing a heck of a job, he got down towards the bottom and was fighting with some lapped cars and broke his momentum a little bit," Mars said, "so I was able to use whatever little grip was still there and just tried to get my left sides in the rubber in three and four and it was a good, clean, hard-fought battle. It's always fun, me and Steve have raced against each other a long time, he's beat me and I've beat him and it's racing, that's the fun part about it."
Key notes: Mars earned his 10th career WISSOTA Challenge Series victory. ... Mars has seven career Rice Lake victories. ... After leading the first 29 laps, Steve Laursen of Cumberland, Wis., settled for the runner-up position, 1.186 seconds behind Mars. ... Polesitter and son of winner Sam Mars of Menomonie, Wis., faded to finish fifth. ... After winning Friday's event at Superior's Gondik Law Speedway, Darrell Nelson of Hermantown, Minn., finished seventh. ... Saturday's feature, the third of three straight nights of WCS racing action in Wisconsin, was slowed by two separate incidents and lasted 17 minutes, with 15 competitors completing 40 laps.
On the move: Winner Jimmy Mars started fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Mars drives an MB Customs Race Car powered by a Pro Power Racing Engine and sponsored by Veit, Vonco, Deppe Enterprises, T.L.
