What won the race: Leading all 30 laps from the outside front row, Dillon Brown of Gaffney, S.C., topped Saturday's DIRTcar Crate Late Model field to win his first career Drydene World Short Track Championship feature at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. He beat Ben Watkins to the finish line by 1.237 seconds to collect $4,000.
Quotable: "Wherever I mashed the gas, it didn't really matter — we was good everywhere," Brown said. "But it's a credit to all of my sponsors. I just got so many really good people, I've just been finally able to put it all together. It's been a dream season for me man."
Key notes: After setting fast time Friday, Winky McGee of Pilot Mountain, N.C., finished fourth. ... Tenth-starting Owen Osteen of Woodruff, Ga., advanced four positions to finish sixth. ... Polesitter Tyler Nicely of Owensboro, Ky., initially crossed the finish line in third but was disqualified and credited with finishing 24th. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by three separate incidents and lasted 22 minutes with nine competitors completing all 30 laps.
On the move: Bryan Mullis of Rock Hill, S.C., started 15th and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: Brown’s Longhorn Race Car was powered by a Hendren Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Cherokee Landscaping, Performance Automotive, Pro Fab Headers, Renegade Race Fuel, Wray’s Wraps, FK and Sri.
