What won the race: Surviving a caution-filled feature, second-starting Jimmy Thomas of Phenix City, Ala., captured the $2,000 Crate Racin' USA victory Friday at Talladega Short Track. The reigning tour champion took the checkers ahead of ninth-starting Greg Martin and Cruz Skinner.
Key notes: Jimmy Thomas and fourth-finishing Adam Gaulding were among lap leaders. ... Fast qualifier and polesitter Dalton Polston contended early but got tangled up with Jake Rainey. ... Jason Markewitz ended up atop the inside retaining wall after a multicar incident. ... Crate Racin’ USA tour competitors competed at TST during NASCAR weekend. ...
