Mike Marlar races to victory at Red Cedar Speedway.
What won the race: Fending off challenges from Ricky Weiss and Ryan Gustin, Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., powered to a $10,000 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series victory Sunday at Red Cedar Speedway. Marlar assumed command from Weiss on lap six and paced the remainder of the 40-lap feature, pulling away during the late stages to take the checkered flag a commanding 4.922 seconds ahead of Weiss.
Key notes: Marlar, the 2018 series champion, notched his 10th career tour victory. It was his second this season on the WoO circuit; his previous win was also in Wisconsin, a $50,000 score on May 7 at Fountain City's Mississippi Thunder Speedway. ... Weiss took the lead coming out of the first corner on the opening lap after starting fifth, but his run in front lasted only five circuits. He fell back to third on lap eight but regained second place for good when the 11th-starting Gustin retired with driveline trouble on lap 28 while chasing Marlar. ... Points leader Dennis Erb Jr. finished third, grabbing the spot from Shane Clanton on the final lap. ... Second-starting Tanner English wasn't a factor as he lost two spots on the opening lap and went on to finish seventh. ... Red Cedar hosted the tour the for the third time.
On the move: Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., started 16th and finished fifth at his hometown track.
