What won the race: Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., had the Midas touch once again Friday at Port Royal Speedway as the sport's dominant force prevailed in the Rumble by the River's second 25-lap semifeature with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Davenport overtook polesitter and race-long pacesetter Chris Ferguson with seven laps left and cruised to the finish 4.337 seconds better than the Mount Holly, N.C., driver.

Quotable: "Man, this place is fun. That right there is pretty hectic for 25 laps running around the wall. I just have to thank my guys once again for giving me a great car. We had a shock change right before the feature. ... I guess we're sitting pretty for tomorrow. Hopefully it's another good weekend for us. We're going to ride this wave as long as we can."

Key notes: Though versus a split field, Friday's preliminary win marked Davenport's fifth straight win and 18th overall of his dominant year. ... The feature ran uninterrupted after a caution was displayed for an aborted original start. ... Tim McCreadie's car began smoking on lap 16 due to a busted oil line but he survived to finish sixth; he lost fifth on the final lap when Hudson O'Neal overtook him. ... Port Royal's third annual Rumble by the River includes split-field $5,000-to-win semifeatures on Friday and the track Late Model-record $50,000-to-win weekend finale Saturday. ... Drivers accrued points Friday to set Saturday's heat race lineups; Davenport will start from the pole in the second of the six heats. ...
