What won the race: Second-starting Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., took the lead for good on a lap-35 restart and paced the final five circuits en route to winning Thursday's 50th annual Silver 1000 feature at Halvor Lines Speedway, earning $6,000. Mars notched the third Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory of the season and the 13th of his career.
Key notes: Mars, who also won the Late Model portion of the Silver 1000 in 2017, moved into sole possession of fifth on the tour's all-time victories list. ... Pat Doar, the tour's winningest driver, led most of the race before Mars took command on the late-race restart. ... Doar finished 0.215 of a second behind Mars. ... Eleventh-starting Kyle Peterlin advanced eight positions and moved into third place by lap 20. ... Jeff Massingill made a fifth-to-first move on a midrace restart, leading lap 14; he finished fourth. ... There were five lead changes among Mars, Doar and Massingill. ... Polesitter Kevin Eder finished sixth. ... Last year's Silver 1000 winner Travis Budisalovich started 14th and finished seventh. ... WISSOTA Challenge points leader Cole Searing advanced 11 positions to finish 12th. ... Darrell Nelson ran as high as third in the early laps before retiring on 15 in 22nd. ... Thursday's feature, which offered a record payout for the 50-year event, was slowed by three cautions and lasted 19 minutes, with 17 competitors completing 40 laps. ...
