What won the race: Overtaking faltering leader Evan Ellis exiting the final corner, fourth-starting Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., won Thursday’s 30-lap Comp Cams Super Dirt Series main event at Magnolia. Moyer finished 0.218 of a second ahead of Chad Thrash. The third-finishing Ellis was in control on the final lap until he got into the wall at the top of the frontstretch, allowing Moyer and Thrash past.
Key notes: Moyer Jr. won his 19th career Comp Cams feature and second of the season. … Ellis, the Plantersville, Miss., driver who has been among Magnolia's top Crate Late Model racers in recent seasons, led laps 8-29. … Robinson, of Bossier City, La., led the first seven laps from the pole. … Sixteen cars finished on the lead lap. … It was the tour’s third visit to Magnolia this season. … After sweeping series events at The Mag June 17-18, Georgian Wil Herrington finished 20th Thursday. He was running inside the top 10 during the first 18 laps, but had fallen to 16th when he pitted on lap 20. ... Among drivers failing to make the feature lineup: David Breazeale, Donald McIntosh, Cameron Weaver and Neil Baggett. ... The event was postponed by rain Sept. 4. … The race preceded Magnolia’s unsanctioned Cotton Pickin’ 100 weekend.
On the move: Joseph Joiner of Milton, Fla., started 12th and finished fourth; Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., started 15th and finished seventh.
