Max Blair zips around the Eriez Speedway oval during prelims.
What won the race: Taking the lead on lap 17, fourth-starting Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., paced the remaining circuits to capture Sunday's 50-lap Andy Kania Memorial at Eriez Speedway. Blair earned $7,676 for his first Super Late Model win of the season and successfully defended his Kania Memorial victory after topping last year's inaugural event.
Key notes: Following a weekend tripleheader at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., Blair made a 900-mile overnight trek to compete at Eriez Speedway, historically one of his best tracks. ... Chub Frank moved into the runner-up position on a lap-22 restart and trailed Blair the rest of the way, finishing 4.672 seconds back. ... Competing in the event that honors his late father, Steve Kania advanced four positions and finished third. ... Jason Genco led the first 16 laps from the pole before being overtaken by Blair and fading to fourth in the finishing order. ... David Scott advanced four spots to place fifth. ... Dave Hess Jr. ran as high as fourth before fading to eighth and pulling off on lap 23. ... Sunday's feature was slowed by one incident on lap 21 and lasted 17 minutes, with 12 competitors completing all 50 laps. ... Sunday’s event honored Andy Kania, a longtime racer and regular at Eriez Speedway who retired to become crew chief for his son, Steve; Andy passed away on Oct. 21, 2021, after a brief illness.
On the move: Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., started eighth and finished second.
