What won the race: Third-starting Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., took the lead from Ryan Mikkelson on lap seven and controlled the remainder of the distance to win Saturday night's 30-lap Northern LateModel Racing Association-sanctioned King of Dirt feature at I-94 EMR Speedway. He beat Jeff Massingill to the checkered flag by 1.035 seconds for the $2,090 top prize.
Quotable: “You know what, the car’s been really good lately, the results haven’t showed for it, but I know we had a capable piece,” Seng said. “You know Ryan (Mikkelson) is a heck of a runner, you has a lot of laps around here, wins a lot of races. I don’t race here a lot, but (I-94 promoter) Don Shaw and staff, I tell you what, this is by far the nicest facility in WISSOTA. Yeah I’ve never won this race, I don’t even know if I’ve ever won in Fergus Falls (Minn.), so this is a pretty good one to check off.”
Key notes: Seng registered what he believes to be his first-ever victory at the Fergus Falls track and his 44th career NLRA triumph, further extending his all-time lead in tour wins. … Massingill reached second place on lap 20 and sliced 2 seconds off Seng’s edge over the remaining circuits. … Mikkelson led the first six laps from the pole but faded to an eighth-place finish. …Dave Mass moved into third on lap 25 and finished there. … Cole Schill ran as high as second in the early laps before settling for a fourth-place finish. … The feature was slowed by one caution flag and lasted 13 minutes, with 19 competitors completing all 30 laps. ... It was the fourth race of the 21-event NLRA season.
On the move: Mike Greseth of Harwood, N.D., started 16th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Seng’s MB Customs Race Car carries sponsorship from S&S Transport, Fargo Freightliner, Valley Oral and Facial Surgery, Anderson Bros. Body Shop, MV Collette Farms, Broken Drum and Mars Race Cars.
