Justin Zeitner celebrates his seventh Malvern Bank Series win of the season.
What won the race: Taking the lead from race-long pacesetter Kyle Berck on lap six, second-starting Justin Zeitner of Malvern, Iowa, paced the final 20 circuits to win Friday's $3,000 Malvern Bank Series stop at Lakeside Speedway. Zeitner secured his seventh series victory of the season and the 14th of his career.
Key notes: Sixth-starting Bill Leighton Jr. marched steadily through the field and grabbed the runner-up spot on the final lap, finishing 4.770 seconds back. ... Kyle Berck led the first five laps from the pole before slipping to finish third. ... Series points leader Tad Pospisil started fifth and finished fourth. ... Derrick Stewart improved five positions and finished sixth. ... Chris Spieker gained five spots and finished ninth. ... Sixth-running Corey Zeitner slowed and pulled off on lap 16. ... Fifth-running Dylan Sillman retired on lap six. ... Friday's eight-minute feature was completed green-to-checkered with 10 competitors completing 25 laps and 15 running at the finish. ... After sweeping May's weekend doubleheader at Lakeside, Jesse Sobbing scratched from the main event.
