Sam Seawright celebrates Sunday's $6,024 Winterfest victory.
What won the race: Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., led all 50 laps from the pole to win Sunday's Winterfest at Duck River Raceway Park, topping the 23-car unsanctioned Super Late Model field for a $6,024 payday. Nabbing his first victory of the season, Seawright secured his second straight Winterfest triumph after leading 43 laps to claim last year's $5,000 winner's prize.
Quotable: “First of all, I want to thank Russell (Boothe), because he puts in more effort than any track owner I’ve seen in a while,” Seawright said. “He reworked the whole race track like that for us, because it was probably gonna be, honestly, a terrible race if he didn’t do that. I had to move all over (the track) because the traction kept leaving certain spots and I just knew there was so much grip coming off (turn) two, if I could stay up there, I would probably be alright. Yeah the crew worked hard, I’m just glad we could get the win.”
