What won the race: Fourth-starting Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., topped the 33-car Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series field to win Friday's $5,000 Topless 50 opener at Ohio Valley Speedway. Carpenter now has two career ULMS feature victories — both coming in Ohio Valley's topless event — and his third overall triumph of the season marked his second in as many weeks at OVS.
Key notes: The event was completed despite several rain delays. ... Fifth-starting Colten Burdette pressured Carpenter in the closing laps before settling for second. ... Series rookie Michael Lake started eighth and finished fourth. ... Seventh-starting Todd Brennan rounded-out the top five. ... Rod Conley improved nine positions and placed sixth. ... Ed Shuman and Dave Stamm each gained nine spots, finishing ninth and 10th. ... Pole-starting Seth Daniels was the first to retire from Friday's 50-lapper. ... Intended to kickoff a weekend doubleheader of topless action, the 30th annual Topless 50 at Middlebourne, W.Va.'s Tyler County Speedway was rain-postponed to May 26.
On the move: Dylan Fenton of Clearfield, Pa., started 22nd and finished ninth.
