What won the race: Slipping by Oakley Johns on a late-race restart after race-long leader Jadon Frame suffered mechanical woes, 14th-starting Dalton Cook of Columbus, Ga., led the five final laps to win Saturday's second annual Clay Smith Memorial at Tennessee National Raceway. Cook collected $5,000 and his first Coltman Farms Southern All Star Series victory of the season — the fourth of his career — as he further extends his advantage in the season-long points.

Quotable: “It feels really good, I left my wife and son at the beach last night, just to come up here and race. It's definitely for them and I appreciate my family letting me do what I do,” Cook said. “I really don’t even know how that race worked the way it did, but I wanna give big thanks to whoever is in the water truck and packer cars and who made the call, and did everything for the topside cause that’s what made it a really good race track.”

Key notes: The second-starting Johns never officially led a lap, as Cook immediately took control on the lap-36 restart, leaving him to finish runner-up at his home track, 1,582 seconds back. Johns's car showed heavy right-side damage after he ran into the quickly-slowing lapped car of Michael Seibers on lap 18. ... Frame, of Winchester, Tenn., led the opening 35 laps from the pole before appearing to slow abruptly as he started the 36th circuit, drawing the race's fifth and final caution. Frame resumed a cautious pace and appeared to blend back in around fifth, but he sped up and argued that he should remain the leader. After several laps of Frame and Johns contesting the lead under caution, SAS officials stopped Frame on the frontstretch, to discuss the matter further. After several more caution laps, Frame opted not to continue and drove back to the pits, ending his night in 16th. ... Christian Hanger improved three spots and completed the podium finishers. ... The main event lasted 37 minutes, with 12 competitors completing 40 laps.
