What won the race: Outdueling fellow Illinoisan and series points leader Brandon Sheppard early, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., led the rest of Tuesday's 35-lap World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series feature at Hamilton County Speedway for a $10,000 payday and his fourth tour victory of the season. Pierce won for the second night in a row in Iowa, pulling away late to finish 3.101 seconds ahead of previous Hamilton County winner Brian Shirley. Sheppard settled for third after leading laps 2-7. Fourth-finishing home-state driver Tyler Bruening led the first lap.

Quotable: "When they dropped the green flag and I got to the bottom right away and went and turn one and it stuck really good. It felt really good right off the bat," Pierce said. "I kind of felt like I'd go anywhere. A really fun racetrack. We don't get many racetracks this size that are that fun to race on. So hats off to them guys."

Second-heat runner-up Ryan Gustin went up in smoke on the last lap, forced to a backup car to tag the tail for the feature. He rallied to finish seventh. ... Tristan Chamberlain retired midway through the first heat, his car showing smoke and leaving a trail of fluid. ... California upstart Cody Laney held the third spot from laps 4-13 but faded after the last restart. ... Andrew Kosiski (rear end) and Cody Overton (car wouldn't fire) missed time trials. Overton went to a backup car while Kosiski scratched for the night. ... Parker Foster of Winona, Minn., made his first WoO feature.
