What won the race: Second-starting Bill Leighton Jr. of La Vista, Neb., earned a dominant green-to-checkered victory in Saturday's 30-lap Ray Houck Memorial at Adams County Speedway. Leighton landed a $4,000 payday, his third on the season in Malvern Bank West Series competition and the 23rd of his career. The co-sanctioned event also gave Leighton his second East Series victory of the campaign and the fourth of his career.
Quotable: "My guys were showing me that I had a pretty good lead, so I figured I was pretty good," Leighton said. "I was just worried about the right-rear tire and keeping it under control and saving it til the end. I was going pretty hard there at first and once they showed me I had a lead, I kinda backed off a little bit."
Key notes: Pole-starting Kyle Berck trailed Leighton the entire distance, finishing 1.314 seconds back at the line. ... Fourth-starting Tad Pospisil grabbed third on the opening lap as he rounded out the podium finishers. ... Justin Zeitner got by Chad Holladay on the lap-26 restart and completed the top five. Holladay gave way to Dylan Thornton as well before settling for seventh. ... Curtis Glover spun on lap 26 to draw the race's lone caution for the second consecutive night. He continued and placed 23rd. ... The main event lasted 16 minutes, with 24 drivers running at the checkers. ... Dylan Sillman scratched after his heat race.
On the move: Brian Kosiski of Papillion, Neb., started 13th and finished 10th.
