Tad Pospisil has a little fun with a pumpkin in Adams County victory lane.
What won the race: Leading all 40 laps and turning back a late challenge from Jake Neal, Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., notched a $6,000 Pumpkin Dash victory at Adams County Speedway in the season finale for the Malvern Bank East and West tours. Pospisil powered to his seventh Malvern West victory of the season and the 40th of his career. It was his first East Series win of the season and eighth-career.
Quotable: "I was getting bottled up there with lapped cars and the air was really bad and I thought my signal guy pointed me to go high in (turns) one and two," Pospisil said. "So I went high that one lap about gave it all up. I thought I was going off the edge. But it was just dumb (on my part) ... I should've just drove my line."
Key notes: Jake Neal got inside winner Tad Pospisil on the backstretch of the second-to-last lap, but Pospisil zipped back ahead for the victory. ... Corey Zeitner gained eight spots and rounded out the top-five finishers. ... Fifth-starting Bill Leighton Jr. of La Vista, Neb., finished sixth, clinching his first career West Series championship. ... Andy Eckrich of Iowa City, Iowa, improved eight positions and finished 11th, earning his first career East Series title. Eckrich edged Chad Holladay by a mere two points. ... The eighth-starting Holladay, of Muscatine, Iowa, slipped one spot and finished ninth. He also wrapped up third in the final West Series standings after running both SLMR tours full-time. ... Dave Eckrich pitted to change a flat just before the green flag dropped and blended in amongst the leaders, one lap down. ... Two cautions slowed the action. ... Justin Zeitner stopped atop the turn-four banking on the fourth lap (he won the night's modified feature). ... Zach Less stopped at the top of turn four on the second lap with suspension damage. ... Kyle Berck finished second in Saturday's second heat and was slated to start 10th in the main event, before scratching after apparent engine issues. ... On-track activity was delayed a couple of hours because of a nearby fire that drew assistance from local emergency response teams. ... Dennis Elliott scratched after Friday's dual heat race action.
On the move: Dylan Thornton of Orcutt, Calif., started 11th and finished fourth.
